Yeah, you just choose a realitively shallow body of water to start with...

Don't make me "whoosh" ya!

And... what's this DIR thing? :)

In this case, just a label to keep me from having to discuss procedures that
have previously been discussed to death.

I thought so. Smile

Hunting is one case. Unless your buddy is the bag boy

I'm inclined to agree. I prefer hunting solo, well, same ocean buddy. I
prefer somebody else in the water when I'm hunting, but not real close. On
the other hand, my buddy and I have done some successful hunting as a team.
It can work, it's just not as easy.

"Lobstering" is really a solo thing. Lobsters here hide in wreckage just
enough for them to fit into. Only one hand/arm can get in at one time.
Flat fish hunting too. We don't use pole spears, just the knife you
brought down with you.
But, when you run into a bed of scallops... now you can use all the help
you can get. Those bags get heavy fast.

When the bullshark appears, demanding his share of the prey, it's really,
really nice to have a buddy to watch your back during the ascent and while
signaling the boat for a pickup.

We have sharks here (makos, dogfish, sand), but you don't see them. Vis
isn't that good. I guess there isn't much you can do if the shark wants
the catch bag. But, I haven't heard of anyone either spearfishing or
other food type gatherings that have encountered shark trouble.

Whoosh? Don't understand the context of your comment...

So, now that I'm closer to your neck of the woods (as compared to Houston),
we're going to have to get together for some flying and diving... Are you
down in SoFL or up in the panhandle?

Thanks Bullshark for the link. I went to the Wahoo site looking for it
with no success. We called him "James Bond" because of the gadgets.

They mention Dave Cooper who died on a dive in the St Lawrence a few
years ago. Dave and his wife Helen ran ABUCS scuba charters. Has
anyone ever heard more about what happened?

Your email address doesn't appear to be correct... For mine, look above and
replace YYYY with current 4-digit year and MM with current 2-digit month...

Crap. Who wants to e-mail privately that much?

Do I understand you're now living someplace close to Florida?

I've never been diving in the panhandle area. From what I understand,
it's
on the deep and dark side, with long boat trips the norm rather than the
exception. I'm more used to near shore dives, including a few nice ones
right from shore.

Haven't tried the boat diving around there... There's a few caves around
though...

Now that you guys have traded phone numbers, how about sending me yours.
I'm in the Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel from now until tomorrow AM.
No guarantee we can meet, but if we do, I'll buy the first round.

Good to hear from you both. Hope you guys had one for me!

Hey Lee... Great meeting you... Glad to introduce you to the French
Quarter
/ Bourbon Street... Hope you're not too hung over in the morning for your
flight to Dallas... Don't know what that girl was selling, but it sure was
nicely wrapped... <grin> Next time you're going to be up this way, give
me
a little more warning... There's a gumbo shop around the French Quarter
area
that is supposed to be rather good...

2am. That answers that question. I'm playing catchup, as always!
