All,
I'm trying to find a book that I had read when I was in grade school (so
it's at least 25 year old). It was a science fiction book about a
youngster from outer space who had landed on earth. The details are
scetchy at best, but I remember that he had special shoes that had a
dial on them that helped him to walk fast. He went back into space and
took and took someone from earth with him. On the trip back to his
homeworld they ate meals that were compressed into pills and they had to
nibble off the pill otherwise they would eat too much. Also I think the
name of the alien child was Martin...
I know this isn't much to go off of, but if anyone could help me
remember the name of this book it would be appreciated.

Is that Marvin Mooney? Something like that.. could have been Martin I
guess. The one I remember he lives on the moon and comes to earth in a
couple different places... more books than one, maybe? anyway, maybe
that will jog your memory to know if that's a track to go down. |

Possibly the "The Spaceship Under the Apple Tree Series" by Louis Slobodkin
about Eddie and Marty. The other titles were "The Spaceship Returns to the
Apple Tree", "The Three-Seated Spaceship", "Round-Trip Spaceship" and
"Spaceship in the Park". It has been a *long* time since I read them, but
they may be what you are looking for.

It's definitely the Slobodkin series. They were favorites of mine, and I
clearly recall the details of the special shoes that allowed Marty to go
super-fast, and the meals in pill form. |
