Superb - now there's a perfect example of the cryptic definition when it
works right. Rufus should take note...

For Boggis's benefit, a TV series -- of which I have never seen even a
single episode -- called *The Dukes of Hazzard* featured a character
called Boss Hogg, played by a Strother Martin type (if not by Strother
Martin himself).

Hark! The TV Encyclopedia is conveniently by the computer. Jefferson
Davis "Boss" Hogg was played by Sorrell Brooke.

I knew that perfectly well, and I knew that the fictional abode of Bo and Luke
had 2 Zs, as did mUs1Ka I'm sure. I just thought your pointing out the spelling
difference was superfluous and ruined the joke.

You're right, I just didn't know if it was 2 zees or 2 zeds.

Boss Hogg's salary for staying up half the night?

No, for watching a Zed-Zed-Top concert...

++++He was indeed. The character played by "a Strother Martin type" was
Uncle Jesse The actor was Denver Pyle (like Strother Martin, a rather
wonderful name).

Not that I ever watched it either, of course...
