Hi, I am having a similar problem. I have two guniea pigs and one rabbit,
just recently one guniea has started pulling the rabbits fur out and
eating it. Apart from a now shabby looking rabbit, who once had lovely
fur, she doesn't seem to bother. However she has now started doing it to
her guniea mate, and as a result the poor critter has little red blood
patches all over her back, because unlike with the rabbit she has to get a
harder grip to pull out guniea fur. I too have read this is normal and
harmless but am concerned about the ill effects it may have on the skin of
the animals. I have therefore had no choice but to seperate them away from
the hair eating pig. It seems shes not getting sick of this and it is
becoming a regular habit, in fact I see her eating fur more often than her
normal food now. I am too interested to hear from anyone else with
experience of this problem. Also Alex I noticed that you wrote this
question in 2003 and wondered how things turned out for you?
