Earthly Delights

What a weekend we have coming up - with 3 public events in the National
Dance Week program in Canberra, Australia.

-This Saturday (15 May) from 11am to 1pm we have a version of Earthly
Delights playing for public participatory dancing at the 'Piazza' in the
Belconnen Markets. We've invited dancers from our Sunday group to come along
as well - many in costume - to help show and lead some lovely Georgian and
Regency period country dancing. Its free, will be lots of fun and all are
welcome.

-Also this Saturday from 8pm we have our Pride and Prejudice Dance Party at
St John's Church Hall, Constitution Ave, Reid. Last year's was a great
success and this year's promises to be even better. Many people have already
booked in but tickets ($15, $12 conc.) are available at the door from
7:40pm. You don't have to have been to any lessons as we will teach and lead
all the dances - beautiful ones that featured in the BBC production of Pride
& Prejudice together with other 18th and early 19th century delights. The
music from our close-to-period orchestra will alone be worth the entry.
Casual dress is fine but dressing up is funŠ so 'Let's party like its 1799'!

-This Sunday (16 May) 4:00 to 6:30pm we are holding a special National Dance
Week 'Dancing on the Lake'. With so many people already booking in and with
so many others having started with us in recent weeks (including many uni
students), this coming Sunday afternoon could be a bumper occasion and the
basis of a great on-going groupŠa perfect time to join in yourself. Venue is
YMCA Sailing Club, Alexandrina Drive, Yarralumla. Casuals just $10 at door.

-Looking beyond this weekend, the band is playing for a Monaro Folk Society
Bush Dance on Sat. 29 May at St John's Church Hall in Reid from 8pm - same
venue and time as for this Saturday's party- and again at that same venue we
will be warming up revellers with a Winter Solstice Dance on Sat. 19 June
and a Mid-Winter Dance on Sat. 17 July.

Warmest Regards,
Aylwen & John Garden
