Hi all,

I read an article somewhere dealing with one DO NOT of having a pet
bird: Never kiss them, because due to the bacteria in mammal saliva it
could be a kiss of death. Unfortunately, I've lost the article.

So I would like more information on this online, but I don't know the
keywords to use such as what the bacteria and accompanying avian
disease is called.

Can this be applied to wild birds as well? I sifted through some seed
with a teaspoon. The teaspoon had been handwashed w/ hand dishwashing
fluid and rinsed after use. It was a day or three since it was
washed. Did I contaminate the seed?

Hi Daniel: Try the key words "avian saliva." I did and a long list
of articles came up. Not sure, of course, if the diseases mentioned
are what you read about, but please check them out. WillD
