Hi,
I am planning to go to the Maldives in August/September this year, and
have narrowed the search down to:
Lohifushi
Kuredu
Meerufenfushi
Lily Beach
Does anybody have any good/bad feedback on the resorts/diving and any
comparisons between them?
In terms of diving I am looking for a location that can offer a good
chance of seeing "big fish" (especially mantas and whale sharks) to
someone of my ability (newly qualified - 12 dives). Also, the general
quality of the diving and dive centre is of course important.
For the resort, I just want a relaxing location (not crowded, or too
"urban")with "good enough" service. Also, good snorkelling from the
beach, and weak currents would be a bonus.
Any help would be most appreciated.
Many Thanks,
Jim |

Jim, I cannot offer a comparison, but I went to Lily Beach in 2001 and
had an excellent time. Limited diving for me as I did my OW course
there, but enjoyed what I did when not training. Saw Mantas, but no
whale sharks.
There was a range of diving available skill wise, but they will no doubt
be happy to advise on what sites would be suitable for you, and you
should get plenty of opportunities.
Really good snorkelling, even for nervous snorkellers, e.g. my wife.
More fish to see than in an aquarium.
It is a small island, so quieter than some of the larger ones I hear,
but that was not a problem, in fact all the more relaxing. Good food and
good service throughout.
We plan to go back, but still waiting for that big lottery win :)
