But I do find this type of reply a little rude.

I was quite capable of doing a google search and had already done so!

What I was asking colleagues was which of the approaches/tools etc they
found to be the EASIEST to use.

Given the question the answer seems quite apropos. PayPal is the only

thing that keeps the question from truly sounding like 'do my
homework'. Even so it sounds like a request for a DIFM interface.

The absolute easiest thing to do is pay someone else to do it. That
being said you might want to consider looking for the most suitable
solution for the business purpose of the application.

Which PayPal product do you intend to use?

I find PayPal SOAP-based API to be the easiest to use if you have a good
grasp of how object-oriented works in C#/VB.NET. All you need to do is
to import PayPal WSDL into Visual Studio and use the generated stub
classes to make SOAP-based calls. This is a very broad description, as
there are many other details involved, for that you need to read
carefully the official PayPal API documentation. If that sounds too
hard, paying one of the certified PayPal developers will be the way to
go.
