You can still find these available on places like eBay. Also, all versions
of VB and Visual Studio are available as part of MSDN subscriptions.

Actually, VB5 is not included under MSDN subscriber downloads, only VB3 and
VB6 -- if I recall correctly. eBay, or the equivalent is the only source,
AFAIK.

Actually, I just checked and 2, 3, 4, and 6 are there but, you are correct,
no 5!

VS6 and below including VC6++ are not downloadable any more as of about a
year ago. There is some old version of VC(16 bits) that is still
downloadable for those who need to make VXD drivers for Windows 9x. Other
than that, only VS 2002 and above are downloadable.

Well, I don't see the Visual Studio packages, but I checked my MSDN
subscription today and as I said VB 2, 3, 4, 6 and all the .NET versions
are
part of MSDN.

Screen shot of developer applications that are part of MSDN Premium
attached.

I see that I forgot about VB in my comments, and focused on VS. What I meant
in my comments is that VS6 and below are not downloadable, but VB6 itself
and some older versions are downloadable.

BTW, for non-subscribers, they can see a complete list of all products that
can be downloaded by using "Download the complete list of products" in this
page:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/subscriptionschart.aspx

It's in Excel format with each sheet is named with the subscription level.
There are many sheets, so one has to click on the right and left arrow to
see more sheets, but if you are a subscriber, it's easier to use the web
interface.
