where can i find a *TABLE* or *CHART* that lists which machine or system
(PC, Console, or otherwise) had which CPU? So far this is what I have:
6502:
atari
apple
commodore
nintendo entertainment system
Z80
timex / sinclair
MSX ?
Vtech VZ200 / 300
Mattel Aquarius
Sega Master System
6809
Dragon
Tandy Color Computer
but I was wondering if there was a more complete *CHART* or *TABLE* where
all this informaiton can be looked up in one reference ?
....'cause this is how I am organizing my website (by CPU and then by
machine): http://www.rtdos.com

It's not in tabular format, but you could take a look at the Obsolete
Computer Museum:
http://www.obsoletecomputermuseum.org/
As the name implies, they don't really have any consoles, but each
machine listed has a brief discussion of the hardware.
Also, you could use Google to find info about specific computers. (I
used to have a link to a site that had exactly what you want, but it's
been a couple of years. Sorry.)
Just out of curiosity: why?

As a quick check, many of the machines provided on that list gave no details
about what CPU was in use.
It can be done by research. If you do, it would be nice if you would post
your results on a website.

I'm not aware of such a table for consoles, but The Machine Room has a
CPU cross-reference for computers:
<http://www.machine-room.org/xref.php?p=CPU>
For consoles it should be like this:
*** 8-bit ***
__6502__
Atari VCS2600 (actually a 6507), 5200, 7800 & Lynx
Nintendo Entertainment System
__Hu6280__ (a 6502 clone on steroids)
NEC PC-Engine
__Z80__
Colecovision
Sega Master System & Game Gear
Nintendo Gameboy (probably closer to the 8080 because it's scaled down)
__6809__
GCE Vectrex
(Now some obscure ones I'm not so sure about...)
__Signetics 2650__
Intertron VC 4000
Hanimex HMG 2650
__8048H__
Philips G7000
__GI CP 1610__
Mattel Intellivision
*** 16-bit ***
__65816__
Super Nintendo
__68000__
Sega Megadrive
SNK Neo Geo
Atari Jaguar (although it shouldn't do much more than control Tom and
Jerry)
__TLCS-900H__
SNK Neo Geo Pocket
__NEC V30MZ__
Bandai Wonderswan
*** 32-bit ***
__680x0__
Philips CDi (68070)
Commodore CD32 (68EC020)
__ARM__
3DO (ARM60)
Nintendo GBA (ARM7TDMI)
Gamepark GP32 (ARM9)
__MIPS R3000A__
Sony Playstation
__Hitachi SH2__
Sega Saturn (it actually has two of these)
__NEC V810__
NEC FX
Nintendo Virtual Boy
*** 64-bit ***
__MIPS R4300i__
Nintendo 64
__Hitachi SH4__
Sega Dreamcast
__Emotion Engine__ (a MIPS R5900 core with added vector units)
Sony Playstation 2
__Gekko__ (a modified PPC750, G3 in Apple terms)
Nintendo Gamecube
__Intel Pentium III/Celeron__ (a hybrid of these two)
Microsoft Xbox
I hope I didn't forget anything. I used a book with the title "GAMEplan"
as a reference, but I know a lot of by heart and also added some more
details.

Eh... sorry, I only checked two, and they both had CPU listed.
