IDS 10.00.UC8
Solaris 10
Commvault 8.0

We just changed storage managers, moving from Netbackup to Commvault.
Our backups and restores run fine when started from the Admin Console
on a Windows server but when I try to start a backup or restore from
the cmd line on my Sun box the operations fail. I have set the env
vars that the Commvault doc mentions, CvInstanceName (preconfigured
name of Instance001) and CvClientName ($INFORMIXSERVER) but don't
know what else could be wrong. Our ALARMPROGRAM does not have anything
to do with our backup process or the SM setup, the shared lib is
linked correcly, and sm_versions is correct. The error I get from the
cmd line is:

informix at (no spam) rmkc00b/opt/informix>onbar -b -L 0
onbar is starting ..........
Galaxy Instance: Instance001
Loading Library:/opt/simpana/Base/libCvIbsad.so from dir /opt/simpana/
Base
Current Galaxy Instance: Instance001
Saving object = /testfmsS/rootdbs/0
Error: Transfer Incomplete

The bar_act.log looks like this:

2009-10-29 09:51:59 5857 5855 XBSA Error: (BSACreateObject) A system
error occurred. Aborting XBSA session

Is there anyone out there who uses Commvault and can backup/restore
from the cmd line?

Thanks -

MM

I figured out my error. I had CvClientName set to the name of the
INFORMIXSERVER - should have been sent to my hostname. Did that - all
is good. I am now a Commvault/Informix expert....
