Hi

We have recently upgraded to 11.50.FC5 on Hp-ux 11.31.ia
and have problems running level 1 backups
When we tried to start a level1 backup 22 hours after a level 0 , we
got
this message :

2009-10-05 19:00:41 18160 18157 Unable to start the storage space
backup: The
existing level-0 backup for DBspace rootdbs is too old to
allow any incremental backup..

It doesn't seem to be quite the same problem we had with 10.00.FC6
The reason then was an excessive use of timestamps which made the
level 0 backup outdated in less than a day

I'd be grateful for tips here as running level 0 backups every night
on the
history-base is hard on tapes and timeslots

regards

Hi,

normally this message is triggered by a flag
set for a dbspace (rootdbs in this case).
But for the backup process (and someone
receiving the message and checking the
flag) it is a bit difficult to tell, what is the root
cause, i.e. the reason why this flag was set
in the first place.

There are several different occasions where
this flag gets set, mostly when there are some
"structural changes" like adding/removing
a dbspace, etc.

In your case I think the best advice that I can
give is to open a call with IBM Informix Tech
Support to have them look closely at the
problem. Based on their advice it may be
necessary to do some specific monitoring
in order to find which condition sets the flag.

Regards, Martin
