Compatibility of Ingres clients with Vista: 9.2 vs...

I'm trying to get an Ingres-9.2.0-143 9.2 "typical client" to work on
a test Windows Vista laptop, to prepare for the eventual phasing out
of Windows XP for our customers.

From the Windows Vista laptop, Ingres 9.2 Netutil won't connect to a
database that is already accessible with an (unsupported old) IngresII
2.n client on Windows XP PCs, using the same network. (See previous
discussion on that issue here:
http://groups.google.com/group/comp.databases.ingres/browse_thread/thread/85558e1386eb9923?hl=en#)

The attempt to connect Ingres 9.2 from Vista also generated a "Partial
incompatibility with Windows" error message from Vista, to which I've
not had any response earlier.

Is there a later community version client available for download that
is more compatible with Vista than 9.2?

Thanks in advance, L Jackson.

User account control (UAC) turned on or off?
Windows firewall on or off?

If you started Ingres client as a service, you may try it with ingstart
instead.

There is a newer commericial release availabe: 9.3

Ingres 9.2 should be supported even with User Account Control (UAC) on,
but you may as well turn that off to test it out.
If you have this off or plan to turn this off, all Ingres tools and
applications must be started from the “Ingres Command Prompt” which
is located in the Ingres Program Group under the Vista Start menu. In
addition, to secure the appropriate privileges to execute a server
process on Vista, you must always start Ingres as a service.
