Hi,

I have just installed on my machine Visual Studio 2008 and and Sql
Server 2008 developer edition. Sql server is working fine when I
access it from the sql server management studio, however I have not
been able to access it from visual studio. On the Add Connection
dialog, under the server name I am only able to see the sqlexpress
instance.

Does anybody know what I need to do in order to be able to access my
sql server 2008 instance? Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated!

Well, I have been trying different things and it seems that if I
write .\ on the server name field I get to see all databases on the
SQL Server instance and I am able to create the connection. However it
would be interesting to know how to have the sql server instance shown
by default.

I think questions on Visual Studio are better asked in a Visual
Studio forum.
