.... which is why I have a blog, and why every Smalltalk vendor has a
website :)

Usenet is not going to be the prime location for tech information ever
again. Not for Smalltalk, not for anything else. It's just the way
it is.

There's still no way to post audio, video or images to Usenet - it's a
very low tech way to publish info.

High tech is not always needed, especially when one is looking for a fix for
something or if something is available.  I have no problem with videos, etc.
but there are those that still read and find reading adequate to the task at
hand.

It's like this: there are only so many hours in the day. I post a new
screencast every weekday, both to my blog, and to numerous social
networks (Facebook, YouTube, etc). I do a podcast every weekend, and
post that to my blog, and a bunch of other places. I scour the net
for Smalltalk links, and put them on my blog (and Twitter feed) each
day.

All of those other outlets reach far, far wider audiences than Usenet
does. For the most part, comp.lang.smalltalk simply isn't the place
that new users of Smalltalk are looking for information - when they
download the NC product from Cincom, they immediately start looking on
our site, and elsewhere on the net, for Smalltalk information. Usenet
is mostly a matter of "preaching to the choir" at this point, and
that's not what I'm looking for. I'm looking to expand the reach of
Smalltalk, not keep it static. To do that, I need to use all the
tools available on the wider internet:

audio, video, images with annotations, and text. Usenet really only
gives me that last option - flat text.

I like blogs also but I doubt your blog contains the wealth of information a
newsgroup has.  Information collected over the years.

'ever' is a long time.  I find that things happen in cycles.  I do not
disagree with your other forms of reaching out to people but I do disagree
with your inclination to exile the newsgroups to the trash bin or something
not much above that.

Speaking of videos, on the 'Developer's Gallery' webpage, there is a video,
'Exploring with COM Connect', however, in my version of VW, 7.6, the
'COM-All' parcel has a question mark by it and is not loadable.  I looked in
the Store repo and did not see it there either.

Is that parcel available?

That means that you didn't install that parcel when you installed VW.

Got it. When I installed VW, I accepted the defaults.

Question #2: Where would you prefer a question like this be asked?
(hopefully a place where others could find it when searchinng so it is not
asked over and over).
