Guys – you’ve probably already heard, but just in case you have not, I
wanted to mention Prospectus’ new bulletins. These are topical bite
sized video clips that are posted to YouTube making them easily
available for us all. It’s a great way of quickly staying in touch
with breaking news, leaving the paper journals, blogs, etc. to cover
newsworthy items in more detail.

Thus far there is an interview with Stuart Shepherd from APT Solutions
( a leading UK IBM U2 reseller) and another with Mike Ruane (President
of Revelation Software in the US). Check out the channel at
http://www.youtube.com/user/ProspectusIT.

Hi Martyn

It's a while since we had the potential for this confusion on the
list.

Yep - I must get used to signing off as 'The other Martyn Phillips' on
this board, you were here first. I still laugh when I recall one of
the MV conferences a couple of years ago and the confusion having two
of us with the same name registered and attending.

Martyn Phillips - Right?
Yep
From England - right?
Yep
From Northamptonshire?
Yep
But you are already here???

For those of you not in the know, Martin and I live about 20 miles
from each other!!!!

So that's the famous Elkie Holland of Tronic fame.

Funny. That reminds me of a Spectrum show where I had a brief
conversation with a colleague I've known for years. Sometime into the
discussion I realized he thought I was Chuck Barouch. That sort of
thing has happened a few times. When we both have a beard and pony
tail it can be tough to tell us apart from a distance - or after a few
drinks I guess. I'm doing without the beard and 'stache these days.

Hi Peter,

Unfortunately the video with Stuart is not great quality and I helped
Elkie to get a better reproduction when interviewing Mike. I’ll
continue to work with her and I’m sure things will improve.

Anyone with a slow internet connection will suffer badly. You should
be able to download YouTube videos by starting the video running and
then using the download option that pops up in the top right hand
corner of the video. The files are pretty large, but if you can’t get
them let me know via this board (with an email address) and I’ll email
you a copy.

Martyn.

Hi
I am interested but how do I get the wretched thing to download before it
starts to play having several second gaps every four or five words tends to
destroy the message.

Press "Play" then press "Pause" on the lower left of the video
player. The video will continue to download, as seen by the red
progress bar on the playback slider. Once completely downloaded, you
should be able to hit play again to see it uninterrupted.

Hi
It is not a slow connection that is the issue I have a 20gig business ADSL2+
although being over 4Km from the exchange the Telstra stats show it as
actually a tad over 6gig. This is still enough to rate it off the top of
the scale for ABC IView.
Obviously I have an issue with YouTube as I do not get a download option
that you mention. I am not sure if say Kaspersky is over enthusiastic in
vetting it perhaps. However, unlike the inimitable early adopter Stephen
Fry who appears to have started before I even heard of the internet, my
experience of YouTube is limited to things like Shaun the sheep or the Baa
Studs. Yahoo training videos I always download first.
I even read the help and came up with nothing.
Thanks all anyway. I saw the vids and Tronic's wicked witch is actually
quite an attractive lady with impeccable connections in the MV field. Suzie
is certainly going to have a story to tell at the D3 conference.

Heh. If anyone has talked to either of you on the phone I don't see
where the confusion can come from. Smile BTW, I'm on twitter now.
