I am a huge fan of MojoPac for virtualizing Microsoft environments for
development and testing. I used it to create an Ingres
installation on a cufflink/earring a couple of years ago: see
www.rationalcommerce.com/mojopac.htm.
I am quite excited to see that MojoPac is now available to use for free
by small organizations as well as individuals. If you are interested,
take a look at www.mojopac.com.
I have no commercial links with Mojopac or RingCube; I'm just a happy
user gushing embarrasingly.

I find this topic very interesting. Are there any other ways of making
Ingres portable / USB stick ready (MojoPac seems to lack Vista support)?
Found this on the WIKI: 'Ingres on a stick - Ingres Community Wiki'

Until Microsoft find a way to make my continued use of XP impractical I
shall have no interest whatever in Vista, so I have not looked for
alternatives to MojoPac, sorry. :-(
I would think "Ingres on a Stick" would be very easy to implement with
MojoPac, although memory sticks are really too slow to be practical. A
USB disk, iPod, or SSD would be eminently usable though. (Personally, I
assign a drive letter to a folder in my file system, and that romps
along very nicely.)

Try using Uniform Server instead. It's always W or U (I forget)
Just Google it.

One problem for Ingres-on-a-USB-stick with Windows is the in-ability to
pre-determine the drive letter for the USB device. As you take your
demo/portable Ingres
from machine to machine you might get a different
"letter" assigned. Perhaps
there is away around that?
