Google display order...

The way my current Google display of CDP works, it buries subsequent
posts because the posts are sorted by the original entry.

Is there a way to change that or do I have to involve Google in
offering another option?

Tony G in the past suggested that I use a different usenet viewer but
Google is so handy because it integrates my various uses including
gmail.

Henry,

Do you use "Tree View" so that you can see the threaded discussion
(select options over oon the right)

Nor sure if that helps?

Ross:

I believe I use the "Tree View" as you call it but from this option
list

I don't see how I can change that.

Before Google took this over the new message would cause the whole
tree to go back to the top of the list so that, even if you replied to
something five years old, it would be immediately noticable. The way
my reader works now, it is unlikely that I would see it. It seems
logical that there is a setting that can change that so I will
experiment with one of your old messages.

I use Google groups for this and I do have this feature. In the
Discussions view, at the top left hand side, it shows the sort order.
Mine says

Sort by: Latest message, First message

Google groups has lots of problems. Just look at their own group for
issue reporting.

The latest that I've found is that searching a group, such as CDP,
from the "Search this Group" box on the top right of the page only
returns a very small subset of the messages available -- Only quite
recent ones.

This has been going on for a few weeks, if not months, and is very
annoying when trying to find historical information. You can get
around this problem by going to Google Groups home page and doing an
"advanced" search.

This message should have appeared ahead of the test message but it
didn't.

http://groups.google.com

Advanced search is to the right of the "Search Groups" button.

Looks like you are using the "topic summary" view. On the right side
there is an "Active Older Topics" that shows if there are any recent
posts to older topics. This helps but isn't great.

If you change your view to Topic List you can sort by latest message
(I think this is what you are looking for) or by first message.
