Thanks Jarober for the suggestion but Alan Knight suggested the
solution on vwnc at (no spam) cs.uiuc.edu mailing list (nabble.com). Follow the
nabble link if interested.

Did the following to install the fonts. The install worked.
Visualworks is working fine. Thanks Alan.
yum install xorg-x11-fonts*-100dpi
yum install xorg-x11-fonts*-75dpi
