Hi All,

I have been tasked to design a new file server for a
customer. They have four Autocad LT (Diet Auctcad)
users and currently have 15 GB of CAD files, ranging
from 200KB to 1.6MB. Typical is 500 KB.

They want to upgrade to 3D drawing with full
Autocad.

I was thinking of giving them 400GB to share.
3D drawings can not be all that much bigger.

Anyone have any opinions of how much storage
I should give them?

Don't cheap out. Give 'em 1 terabyte or more /w RAID. They will grow
to love it and hard drives are cheap. (Data is expensive.) You can
use any one of a slew of terabyte portable drives as a backup system
as well. Heck, my own PC has 0.5 terabytes and that's just for home
with a 1.0 Tb for backup.

Point taken. Thank you.

Question: if they have 15 GB right now and decided to
convert all the drawings over to 3D drawings, how much
larger do you think their 15 GB will grow to?

Many thanks,
-T
