Hello,
I'm a computer professional, 50ish, and am worried about age
discrimination. I'm told that it is very popular in my industry, as
many hiring managers think only "young programmers" know what they are
doing. Having said that, I'm also told that it is very difficult to
prove age discrimination...so I'm trying to go in the other direction
and take steps to prevent it.
A few years ago I ran in a road race, and they posted my name, and
age, and time, on their web site. When you google my name, there it
is...my age. As many hiring managers do a google search as an initial
background check...they will see this info. Is there any way that I
can get the owners of this web site to remove my name from this
listing? I've sent them an email, but they don't seem very willing to
cooperate. Are they breaking any confidentiality issues? Is there
anything I can do...or do I just just learn to "live with it"...
Thanks |
