Development of artificial intelligence able to play the ancient
Chinese game of Go well has been a particularly tough challenge. Good
artificial intelligence has been developed for many games, with
perhaps the most famous being chess. However, Go is in a different
league all-together.

My information is that a modified Monte Carlo method is making
considerable progress.
