My line ( now has a small hiss ) was converted to fibre optic in
3-09, I can get just 31.2 kbps. Can you post your modem log (
with noise level reported ) here, if your line is good ?
What string ( Hayes ) can make my modem report line noise at (no spam)
once ?

not.

Even when my line noise was low at (no spam) -17 dBm, I got just 28.8

If one were to believe those numbers (most software lies to you), the
signal transmitted is as loud as the estimated noise level, and both
are louder than the received signal level. That's certainly not good
for sending signals over the wire.
