What software would I need to get in order to get a dial-up modem to connect
at about 100-110k (or significantly faster than 49.2k)?

I have a Dell computer (GX270 with Win2Ksp4) that used to connect
reliably/regularly at about 100-110k via dial-up modem.
Web pages loaded noticeably faster and downloads were noticeably faster.

I had to re-install the OS now the VERY BEST I can do is 49.2k.

I called Dell and tried to find out what software they use, but Dell would
not help.
Then tried to get [another / a replacement] drive (with the installed
software image), but Dell would not help there either.

Can anyone can point me in the right direction?
Please advise.
Thanks, Tracey
BTW what IS the fastest speed a dial-up modem can connect?
If I had I not experience the increase in speed myself I would have been
skeptical about the issue.
