I have a high-speed internet package (ADSL), but my download speed is
really slow. Things also appear very slow when I browse the web
sometimes. If I need to go to YouTube or download a very short video,
it takes longer than I thought it should. Once I tried to upload a
webpage and it indicated that my speed is close to dial-up!

I was told that perhaps it's not my ISP, but my modem. I use a D-Link
DSL-3001. Do I need to change my modem? Or my ISP package? I also have
a router (NetGear ProSafe Firewall FVS318). This one is newer and I
connect 2 and sometimes 3 computers to this.

Any help is much appreciated.

It never hurts to try power cycling your equipment.

Do you have a way to log onto the modem interface and view the
statistics. For example, is there a reading for CRC errors?

As another poster suggested, there are other ways to test your speed
that may be more accurate.

You may have more response posting to comp.dcom.xdsl and to the DSL
Reports site forums.
