Data is foundational to any business process. In order to create sound
applications and processes, any company must build these processes
upon the data - not the other way around.
I'm constantly surprised at how this industry treats data. With the
project that I'm currently on, the people that we are modeling data
for are very application oriented. This leads to difficulty when
integrating data across the enterprise.
Perhaps there is avid discussion on this topic elsewhere (I hope so -
I'll keep looking!) but at the time of m posting here, all I could see
in this comp.data.administration area was spam. However, if you're
reading this and happen to have some experience in helping process
oriented people understand the importance of data, please post a
reply. (Perhaps we can get this forum rolling on its intended topic!) |
