Hi all,

The subject line of this post may be a little misleading, because I
doubt it's actually an error in FTGET that is causing my problem, it's
just that FTGET is the routine that is complaining.

I have a huge number (~20k) of fits ASCII table files that I need to
access for a program I've written. These files are normally stored on
a server I have access to, but since I am not always connected to the
internet (gasp!) and I'd like to be able to run my program when I'm
not, I copied all of these files to an external HD that I can carry
around with me.

Now, when I'm connected to the server and am running on the files
there, I have no issues. But, when I run with the files on my XHD, I
get a whole slew of "Cannot convert given STRING to DOUBLE" errors
from FTGET. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Thanks, as always!

Does the string in question look like some kind of malformed
octal number or something?

Cheers,

David
