Been having a problem with posting, have emailed him twice with two different
email addresses, no reply, nothing.
Is he OK? Probably still in the US from the OOW?

Mark Bobak posted on Oracle-L that Steve has granted him the ability
to handle many routine Oracle-L activities such as granting posting
privileges. Try contacking Mark if the issue is important.

It's not a posting right, it's a problem with posting from an id that
has been doing so for years. Slightly different context...

Ah, Steve has singlehandedly destroyed the Oracle-L and rendered it
useless. It coincided with his Ixora site becoming totally useless. Is
the protection of the morons on oracle-l his only occupation in life or
does he have something else to do?

Does that mean that Steve will stop being an administrator of the list?
Good riddance!

Why don't you let us know how you really feel?

You say "us" as in many of you? Who are you speaking for? All the members
of your household, goldfish included? Did someone give you permission to
represent him in this matter or you just want to cowardly hide yourself
behind "us"?
What's that to you, what's your problem? Steve Adams is a prick who
turned oracle-l into a useless marketing forum and banned me from the
list, despite the fact that I was on that list long before him. You, with
your protecting the feelings of the lazy morons, are exactly like Steve.
Fortunately, there are guys like Sybrand on this forum, which means that
morons like dbaplusplus and zigzagdba have probably gone over to oracle-
l. There are no moderators here and, from time to time, there is even an
interesting thread. Did I mention that there are no moderators here? Not
you, neither me nor "us".

Well the us was any of the few still left on cdos ... it was kind of a
small attempt at humor.

Never mind ...

You expect too much from that public, hpuxrac. Not everyone is able to
laugh with themselves.

What is that public Gerard? What's more, I haven't noticed anything even
remotely funny. What exactly do you consider funny?

The humor lies in you saying exactly how you feel, and the incongruity
of hpuxrac acting as though you hadn't. It's not particularly picking
on you, it is just pointing out that you are stating strong opinions
that not everyone may share, so it may appear pompous, hopefully
pointed out in a manner so that you see it and laugh along with us,
whoever us is. If you played along, perhaps some of us would be
entertained by the Schadenfreude of Oracle-L, if any. Given your
expressed feelings, I'd expect you'd like that. I don't feel quite so
strongly, I find some interesting stuff over there, but I share some
of your feelings. This is our livelihood, we're allowed to feel
strongly about people being idiots about it. This is usenet, we can
flame and move on to the next flame if we choose.

Don't choke on your popcorn Noons :-)

I have said forever and a day, he should be a comedian. The all time
classic I still remember is hiring Chuck Norris to protect his
databases. "Since then, there is no more fooling around"...:LOL!

Of course not, MG, after what you received, there were none left.

Gerard, you really should direct some of the energy you waste on flame
wars toward learning Oracle. It really helps and it may make your
contribution to this group more valuable.

I guess this wasn't meant in a good way? My calling Steve Adams a prick
bothers you? Well, I can't help you, I was on that list long before he
was and the list used to be much more useful than it is now. He is
protecting the feelings of the morons, at the expense of the list, which
became largely unreadable. Having been one of the 1st people on that
list, I didn't take the whole thing lightly. At the same time, he stopped
doing anything with Oracle. His Ixora site is a joke and the last book he
published was a long time ago. Even that book has problems, to put it
mildly, because of using terms like "blocking AST" without explanation,
through a whole chapter. In other words, his sole contribution of recent
years consists making oracle-l safe for lazy morons and preventing
someone like me from hurting their feelings. That's why I consider him a
prudish prick.

On the other hand, I can't relate your name to any contribution to the
Oracle community. I remember you arguing with Sybrand and that's it. So,
you are one of those people trying to make DBA's behave like clerks? Good
luck, your contribution to this forum will be remembered long after you
move to the management. You are an ideal management candidate, your
future is bright.
