Have you ever tried to figure out how to tune your IDS instance without
taking the risk of having an adverse impact on your production servers?
Have you ever tested a new configuration or schema on your development or QA
servers only to find out that performance was very different on production?
If you will be at IOD next week, Oninit encourages you to seriously consider
attending the session 1309C "Tuning Informix in a Sandbox Environment" on
Wednesday at 2:15 in room Shell Seekers A in the North Convention Center.
Russell Clancy from GSN Digital will show how GSN Digital used iReplay from
Exact Solutions to solve these vexing problems. Here is the session
summary:
*
**Tuning Informix in a Sandbox Environment:*
At GSN Digital, formerly WorldWinner, the use of Exact Solutions' iCapture
and iReplay products to capture and replay 100% of production SQL calls in a
dedicated engineering sandbox allows for empirical measurement of these
changes before they take place in production. The empirical tests show what
gains are achieved with changes to the ONCONFIG parameter values, to table
and index fragmentation strategies, and utilization of new IBM Informix
Dynamic Server functionality. The ability to automatically and properly
handle transactions open when a level 0 begins is one of the valuable
features.
Oninit, LLC, is a certified Exact Solutions dealer.

I wonder how long it will take for Apple to sue Exact Solutions for their use of i as the first character in their name as part of a trademark infringement case.
(iPhone, iPod, iMac... ) vs iCapture and iReplay ...
Sorry, I just had to walk through the FIA conference and couldn't resist.

Since Informix had iSell and various other (tremendously successful) i*
products, maybe IBM should think about chasing Apple for adding the iPhone
etc? It would make as much sense as Apple suing Exact Solutions...

LOL... I'm afraid its a bit more complicated than that.
Sure Apple has to face some hurdles but they can still sue and do it. ;-)
