Hi,

I have one problem with my GPRS modem....
When I configure my modem for GPRS communication I do the next steps.

AT+CSTT="APN","User","password"
OK

AT+CGATT?
+CGATT: 1
OK

AT+CIICR
OK

AT+CIFSR
10.8.144.163

AT+CLPORT?
TCP: 2020
UDP: 3030

OK
AT+CIPSTART="TCP","10.8.144.163","2020"

I can connect with another modem via GPRS but if I shut down the power
of my GPRS modem and then power on my Modem, it does not connect to
the GSM Network.

When I use the command AT+CREG?, it replies with (0,2) .... so it is
not registered with the network.

I dont understand what is happening...
Can anyone help me????
My GPRS modem is SIMCOM

Hi tlvp,

My problem is the next.
I was working with two GPRS modem, everything was good. but in my
office the power down and my GRPS modems turn off.
When we recover the power in my office I turn on the GPRS modem and
all of my configuration lost.

But the lost configuration is not my problem, the main problem is when
I turn on the GPRS modem, it does not connect to the GSM Network.

I cant send SMS messages or do GPRS communication.

When I send to the modem the AT command AT+CREG?, it replies with
(0,2)...

Right now Im not concern about GPRS communication, Im trying to
connect my modem to the GSM network but I cant do that.

I hope you understand my problem and my english.

Why would you expect your GPRS modem to automatically resume
the connection that it had prior to your shutting down its power?

Isn't that like expecting your telephone to resume
the call you were on prior to hanging up?

OK, maiki, I understand somewhat better now that you've explained
with further detail. But let me ask this: has the modem you are
discussing *ever* succeeded in connecting with the GSM network?
And, if so, what steps did you take to get it to do so?

In my instance, with a very different modem (by Sierra Wireless),
there's a software on my laptop to which I must indicate that I
wish the modem to connect to such-and-such GSM carrier.

For example, in Warsaw, where Orange, Plus, and Era all offer
GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS data carriers, I must tell the modem (because
its data SIM is recognized only by Orange) to connect to Orange.

Maybe something like that is needed in your case, too?
Hope that helped, a little anyway; good luck; and cheers,

Thanks for your reply TLVP,

Answering your questions.
1) has the modem you are discussing *ever* succeeded in connecting
with the GSM network?
The modem was working perfect until the power fails in our office. It
was connected to my GSM network.

2) what steps did you take to get it to do so?
I did not follow a steps to connect my modem to the GSM Network, I
only insert the SIM and connect the modem to the power and it
registered to the GSM network for it self.

I try to indicate to the modem what GSM carrier do I want to connect
but it send me a CME error: 22
I use the next AT command.

at+cops=1,0,"Movistar GSM"
+CME ERROR: 22

My SIM has money, also it is from Movistar.
I know the GSM Carrier name because when I ask to my good GPRS modem
the GSM carrier that is connected, it replies with Movistar GSM

Also I try to reset the module with the ATZ command and it replies
with OK but it is still without registering in the GSM network.

I dont know what I need to do.

Does Movistar in your area have any store you can bring your datamodem to
for inspection/testing by the store personnel? It's just possible that the
power lapse "borked" something in the modem's RF circuitry, so that, even
though it seems to accept -- and respond to -- AT commands, it can't quite
get on the air in one of the modes Transmit or Receive (or worse, in both).

If no convenient Movistar store, can you try the non-responsive modem
with a different computer? and/or with a different SIM? If it still won't
connect to your GSM service, I'd probably infer it *is* somehow "dead",
and look into obtaining a replacement for it (Movistar exchange/trade-in?
or eBay purchase? or other local source, better known to you than to me).

Sorry, nothing else I can think of.

All the best at sorting it out! Cheers, -- tlvp
