Hello,
there is something I don't understand.
Using Vim 7.0 on Windows NT4, I edit several files having mixed
html/php
The modeline always starts with:
vim:ft=html:enc=utf8:tenc=latin1:.....
this is due tu the fact that I edit these files on Linux in ttys,
upload them, then reboot on Windows, check display in browsers/win and
possibly edit them, in gvim.
These files contain accented letters.
Each time I open a file, that is utf-8 encoded, vim first converts it
to latin1, thus I have each time to set enc=latin1 and set fenc=utf8
This is pretty annoying but I didn't want to spend more than already
spent time to find the trick. But, I just opened another file, same
modeline, accented letters too, and THIS time, gvim does not convert
it first, and set enc replies utf-8
What the heck am I missing plase?
many thanks
