It appears from my testing that Wine 1.1.27 is entirely DOA.
Starting with a fresh, new prefix area each time, none of the
five application versions for which I maintain AppDB pages would
even get part of the way through the installation process. All
reported something like this:
X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 144 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 5 (X_GLXMakeCurrent)
Serial number of failed request: 3279
Current serial number in output stream: 3279
err:process:__wine_kernel_init boot event wait timed out
Then, the installation process failed in different ways,
depending on which application version was being attempted.
In contrast, Wine version 1.1.26 worked just fine for all
installations. For running the applications, 1.1.26 showed only
the one problem on one application version that has existed since
1.1.12 in Wine Gecko.
Has anyone else had similar (or different) experiences with Wine
version 1.1.27?

Upgraded to 1.1.27 a few days ago. No problems here.
I am using Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy with all current updates.
