Hi all
Is there a diagramming technique that would allow a person to spot a
fallacy?
In other words the diagramming technique would result in a graph of
some sort that would e.g. have something missing when an argument is
fallacious.
I was curious on whether anyone knows if for example the "Venn-II"
diagramming technique proposed by Sun-Joo Shin (in her book "The
Logical Status of Diagrams") would work for this?
Or if the Toulmin or Wigmore Diagrams can be used for spotting a
fallacy?
On a separate note another question of interest is whether a single
diagramming technique could be used both for drawing conclusions,
providing proof AND spotting fallacies? Sounds a bit farfetched but if
anyone has any thoughts on this I would like to hear them...
Thanks in advance, |
