Dear group,

we're in the very, very, very early stages of looking at iSCSI SAN.
We've seen the SUN 7210 that can be configured with 48 250GB SATA disks.
Two are used for OS. How would one configure the remaining disks? If
using RIAD50, how many disks can/would you use per RAID5 group?

Thanks.

There are a lot of other storage systems you could consider...

Look at EMC, IBM, NetApp, HP... They all can use high-capacity SATA drives
(1TB capacity)...

Avoid creating RAID50 groups, stick with RAID5 and RAID1/0 (or RAID1)...
Like Iggy mentioned, you need to know your performance/capacity demands for
applications you'll use...

Look for specific white papers from vendors related to applications your
applications in which you could find optimal configurations...

Also, consider creating individual VLAN for iSCSI traffic...
