This group has had two FAQs that were sitting at version 1 for little
over ten(?) years.
After repeated complaining from this group it no longer gets spammed
with these FAQs we couldn't update.
At that moment the consensus was that a FAQ was no longer needed in a
world of search engines, blogs and what not...
Why you would want the follow-up in c.l.c beats me though....

I was describing the way things are, not why, or whether I approve.
As to finding online code refs - the lack of them for Smalltalk has a
lot to do with the fact that we don't really develop Smalltalk code in
files - we use an image, and various packaging schemes that work with
the image. We don't tend to work in text files, or upload them
anywhere

A person from Cincom said it best, everyone wants to get their ST questions
answered through mailing lists and social networking sites. Having a
central place with ST information, that could be searched for answers, did
not make sense anyway.
Enter this into google, "seaside site:twitter.com", and see how many ST
seaside posts you come across. Reading about someone's seaside stationary,
or seaside neighborhoods gives us a break anyway.

Some delightful entity is currently mounting a "splash-back" attack
against comp.lang.c by sending messages to a wide variety of newsgroups
with follow-up set to c.l.c. The headers are forged to appear to come
either from non-existent people, or frequent posters to c.l.c. The
content is designed to get lots of responses, either by being
contentious or by being simple questions (such as this) which are likely
to get many replies.
Please check the headers on messages before replying; if Followup-To is
set to comp.lang.c, please resist the urge to reply (except when that
follow-up makes sense, of course, which will be very rarely for most of
the groups being used for this attack).
Thanks for your consideration; let's hope the kiddies tire of this game
soon. |

Questions, not necessarily code fragments, etc.
