Quick newbie question...

Hi, my first post!

I registered to ask or help, did a search but found nothing.. :(

Anyway, is it possible to use an ADSL router (Netgear DG834G) on a ISDN
line?

A friend of mine has an ISDN line with a desktop machine that works
fine, but just bought a laptop and wants to be able to use this
wirelessly.

I thought he had ADSL so I attempted to change his ADSL modem for the
netgear router... turns out he has ISDN and the router won't work..

It appears to find and report the ISDN correctly (2Mbps connection, but
any attempt to connect the laptop results in a "connection failed, LCP
Down" error message.

PS - this is all done using the router config screen on 192.168.0.1, I
was trying wired at first, didn't get round to trying wireless.

thanks very much, any help is appreciated (never had to deal with ISDN
before!)

No.

ISDN and ADSL have totally different signalling and purposes.

You'd need an ISDN router. Should be a dime for a dozen on eBay.
(well, maybe not that cheap, but some Netgear's for $1).
