Geolocation databases can be used to target based on
demographics by using the estimated location of the website
visitor. However, we can take that one step further by
estimating the demographics (income, etc) on the website visitor
directly.
If, say for an IP address range, we have 100 user-entered locations,
which are spread out over several towns, but for each
one of those locations, we record the demographics for
that zip, then average together the demographics and
report on that, as well as the average location. This would be
helpful if a given network block is allocated over several cities/
towns, but tended to be used more by a certain demographic (e.g.
higher income). |
