Hi,
Forgive me if this is considered off topic as I'm not sure if I've stumbled
across an old bug or merely my own incompetence ;-)
I'm trying to get 2.11 running on a PDP-11/73. I got the distribution from
the PUPS archive and have got as far as dumping the root filesystem to the
first partition of an MSCP disk attached to an RQDX3 (firmware version 4).
Booting off this partition seems to work, but the system hangs after
autoconfig prints out its list of devices. I'm not sure whether autoconfig
itself has hung, or init is having trouble starting the shell. The RUN light
goes out and dropping to ODT shows the address 003476. Re-dumping the root
filesystem didn't help.
I did have an RLV12 connected, and read in this newsgroup's archives that
there is a known issue with these. However, removing the controller doesn't
make any difference. Apart from the CPU, and MVX11-B and 4MB of memory, the
RQDX3 is the only module installed.
I get the feeling I'm missing some something simple but rather essential,
but am puzzled as to what it could be. Does this problem sound familiar to
anyone or does someone have any suggestions for things to check?

As I suspected, it turned out to be the latter. I discovered I had a
conflicting clock signal which it seems was causing the system to grind
to a halt. With that sorted, BSD is booting like a charm.
Thanks, anyway, to anyone whom may have puzzled over this problem.
